Probable format of the exam

In general the format of this exam will be very similar to the first exam. The new part is the identification of types of objects as well as specific objects.

• 10 image identification (see below)
• 8 - 10 definitions
• 8 - 10 short answer (answer using one or two sentences)
• 10 - 15 very short answer (answer using one or two words)
• 2 - 5 short essay (one half page answer)
• 0 - 1 long essay ( one page answer)
• 4 - 5 problems

Image identification: For part of this you will be asked to identify different types of objects such as: emission nebula, reflection nebula, dark nebular, open cluster, globular cluster, and planetary nebula. In addition, for some objects you will need to know the specific name of the object (e.g. the Ring Nebula). Look here for examples of the different types of objects and also specific objects .
