Atlantis...

  CayceEdgar Cayce (1877-1945)

Edgar Cayce was called the “Sleeping Prophet” because he induced himself into a trance state in order to give “readings” to those who inquired. Before his death in 1945, Cayce had amounted thousands upon thousands of “readings” covering a wide range of health, history, the future and Atlantis. The Atlantis readings happened between 1924 and 1944. Up until this time the pursuit of Atlantis had been based on Plato's tale, archeology in the Agean, and a lot of speculation.

Cayce’s “readings” added an entire new light to the search for this lost civilization. While in his trance, he spoke of Atlantis as where man first developed civilization. It was a highly developed civilization with electromagnetic powered flying machines, lasers, power crystals, and devices which we cannot even understand.

The most prominent factor in Cayce's predictions is the Tuaoi Stone, or the Fire Crystal. It was a source of rejuvenation of the Atlanteans' bodies and a power source for their technology. Cayce's description of this six sided, cylindrical quartz and its abilities resembles that of a present day laser beam, using a type of ultraviolent light energy to power it.

Cayce also theorized that Atlantean civilians migrated to Egypt and their knowledge of technology aided in the construction of the Great Pyramids.

Where Plato's dialogues vaguely describe the where abouts of Atlantis to be (outside of the Pillars of Hercules), Cayce predicted that evidence for Atlantis could be found as far east as the Pyrenees and Morocco and as far west as the Yukatan in Mexico. Cayce claimed that some significant proof of Atlantis would rise from the depths of its watery grave and make itself known to us in the year 1968. In 1969, the discovery of the enigmatic stone formations beneath the ocean at Bimini in the Bahamas. seemed to support Cayce's prediction. Although skeptics claim that the geometric, adjoined stone slabs are completely natural formations, believers suspect that the stones were once part of a great Atlantean roadway or temple. According to Cayce's readings, the size of Atlantis was equal to that of Europe. He saw visions of a continent which had gone through three major periods of division; the first two about 15,600 BCE, when the mainland was divided into islands. The three main islands Cayce named Poseida, Og and Aryan.

Also unlike Plato's description, Cayce's Atlantis was not perfect and harmonious and was, like most societies, vulnerable to corruption and abuse of power. Cayce’s “readings” blamed its eventual destruction on the misuse of these powers, much as many today believe nuclear power and genetic cloning are the seed whose misuse will eventually bring us down, and the survivors will retrogress to Mesolithic barbarism.
