Disney's Atlantis

Kida

Disney's adaptation of Edgar Cayce's idea of Atlantis depicts the civilization as a peaceful society who depend on their advanced crystal technology for their continued survival. In the movie, the world's most highly qualified crew of archaeologists and explorers are led by historian Milo Thatch as they board the incredible 1,000-foot submarine Ulysses and head deep into the mysteries of the sea. The underwater expedition takes an unexpected turn when the team's mission must switch from exploring Atlantis to protecting it.

In the movie, the crystals are used as power generators, healing, weapons, and protection. The main character, Milo Thatch, meets the princess of Atlantis and helps her understand her civilization's history and how the crystals work. Eventually, they unlock the secrets of the crystals and protect Atlantis from the dark desires of the crew members Milo employed to help him on his expedition.

Kida

Shown in the picture above is the princess of Atlantis, Kida. It can be assumed that she was based off of several of Edgar Cayce's readings speaking of a princess of Atlantis who possesses a direct connection with the Great Crystal. In reading 1474-1, Cayce speaks of a "princess of royal blood -one that had supervision of that stone upon which the light of heaven shone for the blessings of man -that brought divinations to the people as to their relationship to the godly forces as might find expression." In the movie, when Atlantis is in danger, the crystal shines a beam of light onto Kida and somehow becons her to give herself up to the power of the crystal. Through the fusion of Kida and the crystal energy, Atlantis is saved.
