1) Galilean Moon Group presentations: in class on Monday.
You will each prepare a short (8 - 10 minute) presentation on
one of the Galilean Moons. The moons are assigned in a table below. In class on Wednesday you will give your presentation to a group of four people. Each person in
a group will present a different moon, so that all four moons will be covered. You might want to provide copies of images or other
visual material for the members of your group. Research the latest
results form the Galileo Mission about your moon. You should use at least the
following resources to prepare your presentation:
"The Galileo Mission To Jupiter and its Moons", Scientific American, Feb. 2000, pages 40-49.
Galileo Mission Moons pages : from here you can get to information about each of the moons
You can also use the text and the general planetary web sites that you reviewed at the beginning of the semester.
Your presentation should give an overview of the moon, summarize some of the key mission science results (usually found in press release stories on the web site), and show images of the moon.
