Announcements:

1) Check out the news story about moons for the Earth on the left side bar. When you see interesting astronomy news stories related to class, please forward the url to me, and I will post it for everyone. Thanks!

2) You should also check out the "Astronomy Picture of the Day" site, also on the left side bar. That link makes a nice home page for your net browser!

3) If you did not turn in  the internet assignment that was due last Friday (because of the network problems on Friday), please turn it in on Monday in class. Otherwise it will be counted late!

Assignments:

1) Review of Internet Astronomy News sources: Due, Friday, Feb. 8 in class. (3 point grade)

Visit three astronomy news sources. You may chose from the list below, and/or search for your own. For each source, write a half page review of the types of news articles it contains. As you write your reviews, think about the following: What subject matter is covered? Is it more about planets and the solar system, or more about stars, galaxies, and the universe? What is the balance between these topics? Does it have a special section about the solar system or planets? How detailed are the stories? Are there links to related stories? What level are they written? How useful might this source be for class? Be sure to include the name and url for each of the three you review. Give each site a "star rating", with 5 stars begin the best. Remember to use these site in later assignments!
