Assignments:

1) Due Monday, March 4 in class: Crater counts on Eros. Use the data from the NEAR mission to do a crater count of Eros. Use the image given on this page for counting craters. Count craters in the following size ranges: 0.125 - 0.25 km, 0.25 - 0.5 km, 0.5 - 1.0 km, 1.0 - 2.0 km, and 2.0 - 4.0 km. Plot your points on the graph paper handed out in class on Monday. Could you plot this data on your graph for Mare Humorium? Can you estimate an age for Eros? Write up a brief explanation, a table of your crater counts, a plot of crater count vs. size, and your answers to the above questions. Note: This is a grade homework assignment (not a 3 point Internet assignment!).
